Referral fees
How we're paid.
Free for tenants. If you hire a contractor through us, they pay us a referral fee. Nobody can pay to rank higher. MAKE GREAT is a technology marketplace, not a contractor, and you contract directly with the contractor you choose.
Who pays us
MAKE GREAT is a technology marketplace. We don't do building work and we aren't a party to your contract. When a customer awards a project to a contractor they were introduced to through MAKE GREAT, that contractor pays us a referral fee under a signed referral agreement.
How the fee is worked out
The fee is a percentage of the contract value agreed between you and the contractor, excluding GST. The contractor's referral terms set out the rate, how variations and cancellations are treated, and when the fee becomes payable. We verify awards and contract values with the contractor before we invoice them.
What it means for you
- You don't pay MAKE GREAT to get quotes or to use the platform.
- You choose the contractor, or choose none. There is no obligation.
- Contractors can't pay to rank higher or be invited more often.
- We never present a quote as cheaper or better than it is, and we never auto-pick the cheapest as the best.
- We don't promise savings. Comparing quotes can help, but results depend on your project.
Partners
If we ever have referral arrangements with partners such as property managers, they are in writing and disclosed. We don't offer undisclosed incentives.

Common questions
Do I pay MAKE GREAT anything?
No. Tenants, property managers and landlords who use MAKE GREAT to get quotes don't pay us. Our fee comes from the contractor you award work to.
Does the referral fee make my quote more expensive?
Contractors set their own prices, and some may factor their costs of winning work, including our fee, into their pricing, as they would with any marketing cost. Comparing several quotes on the same brief helps you see whether a price is reasonable.
Does the referral fee affect which contractors I see?
No. Contractors can't pay for a better position. Matching uses eligibility rules and fit, and we explain the criteria.
What if I go direct to a contractor I met through MAKE GREAT?
Our contractor terms cover work that results from an introduction through MAKE GREAT, including if the contract is signed outside the platform. That obligation sits with the contractor, not you.
This page is a plain-English summary. The binding terms are in our terms of use and the contractor referral terms, which are being finalised with Australian legal review.
